An Art Show Conversation
| Falling Leaves - Limited Series |
A customer was looking at one of my Falling Leaves made with Kokomo Opalescent Glass. I was telling her a little about the company and why I had chosen that particular glass.

Then, she picked up one of my available Seasons Drops suncatchers and asked about the glass used in those pieces.
I explained it was made with Wissmach glass and pointed out how the textures, colors, and sheen were different. I suggested she compare the two, and notice the similarities and difference in color, texture, opacity and more.

She stopped for a second and asked, "Do you know where every piece of glass in this booth is from?"
I laughed because my immediate thought was, "Well...of course I do."
I had honestly forgotten that someone would think otherwise. Every sheet of glass has a history. I know who made it, what drew me to it, why I bought it, and often what project I originally intended to use it for.
Choosing the glass is part of designing the piece. I select each piece for its color, texture, opacity, or movement helps tell the story I want the finished artwork to tell.
Her surprise reminded me that customers don't necessarily realize that's how artists think.
Until text time,
