How do I work without plumbing in the studio?
I love my huge studio. Even with garden equipment, saws, drills, and other stuff, I still have plenty of space. But, there are quite a few features it doesn't have like AC, central heating, and plumbing. It's not a deal breaker, that's for sure. I have created several work arounds
Cleaning Water
I carry out a few gallons of water at a time for the grinder and washing/scrubbing. All those emptygallon jugs get a second life storing water for me to use in studio. Don't worry - I'm not drinking it or giving it to the dogs! It's a short term workaround that realistically will be a long term solution.
Waste Water
I collect waste water in containers and transport to the house for disposal. For the really icky stuff (we're looking at you patina), I use shredded paper to soak it up, let it dry and dispose of it in the trash. Thankfully, a small studio like mine created very little waste.
Drinking Water
First Aid
As a retired registered nurse, I get how important first aid and wound care are. For small cuts or burns, I keep a bottle of sterile water or saline one hand. I grab whatever is on sale at the time. It sits right on top of the first aid box, which is stocked with more bandages that I could use in a month. And some gauze for those bigger ouchies. When I have one of those, the kit will get a quick clean up to get be in the house for the real deal.
