Cute Fruits and Sweet Treats - Summery Stained Glass Fruit Suncatcher are Here!

When Goimagine announced their April Maker Challenge theme was Cute Fruit, I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

The results are now in, and you can see the entire collection here.   But before you go, let me introduce my own cute fruits window hanging suncatchers!

These handmade glass pieces have been a hit at market shows. Hang them in a kitchen window, tuck them in a gift basket, give them as car charms, or keep one for yourself. They’re stained glass window hangings that double as affordable, meaningful gifts—all priced under $30.

Retro Cherries for Your Fruit Themed Kitchen

A new take on Grandma's vintage fruit kitchen decor —ruby red glass cherries with crisp green leaves and hand-twisted wire stems. The stems are repositionable, so you can adjust the look depending on your mood or window light.  Keeping your kitchen modern? Add suncatcher window art to your retro bathroom decor instead. Hello, cherry bathroom!

Crisp Apples

Keeping with the fruit kitchen decor themes, these bright red and green stained glass gives these apples a fresh, classic feel. They look like they belong in a still life—or in the hands of a certain folk-hero tree planter. Apple crisp, anyone?

Citrus Slices

Red bathroom decor not your vibe? These lime wedge fruit slices started with the glass itself—a limited-run green from Kokomo Opalescent Glass. Its bumpy texture practically begged to become limes. A slice of summer and a perfect gift for mixologists! Want stained glass orange slices instead? Let me know!

Perfect Peaches

I originally thought “peach sherbet” when I saw this soft, glowing
orange-pink glass. But once I paired it with the apples, it was too cute to separate. One of the first sold was gifted in memory of a beloved dog named Georgia.

How They’re Made

Messy scraps

Every piece starts with a sketch—usually the kind of doodle you’d crumple and toss. But those scribbles help me figure out scale and shape. For the fruit collection, I looked at real produce: the curve of a peach, the angle of lime wedges, how leaves sit.

I go back and forth between rough sketches and reference photos until the proportions feel right. Then it’s time to pick the glass—color, texture, and light response all play a role.

Once I’ve chosen the glass, I transfer the pattern and cut each piece by hand. Every edge is shaped, cleaned, and foiled. Then I move to the soldering table, where seams are tacked together. A quick lift to the window gives me a first look at how it will catch the light.

If everything lines up, I add a came edge, complete the soldering, attach jump rings, and scrub everything clean. Then comes patina, wax, and a final polish. Ribbon goes on last—but honestly, I’m still tweaking and double-checking until I’m happy.

It’s classic stained glass work—crafted by hand, piece by piece.

These fruit-themed home accents are part of a growing collection of nature-themed glass art, holiday ornaments, and custom-stained-glass pieces I’ve made over the years. Whether you’re looking for gift ideas for your mother-in-law, graduation gift ideas, or just something sweet for your own home, these are easy, thoughtful picks.

They make fun, cheerful home accessories, and they ship fast, just in case you need something quickly.

Until next time,
Ailsa
